How to Copy and Patch the CID on eMMC Chips
- Copy Original CID: Use an ISP tool (such as the ISPT001) to copy the original CID (Card Identification Data) from the eMMC chip. This step retrieves the necessary device information for further operations.
- Enter a New Serial Number (SN): Input a new Serial Number (SN) using a recommended numeric value (0-9). The new serial number is important for device identification and customization.
- Calculate CRC7 for New CID: Use a CRC-7 calculator to calculate the checksum (CRC7) for your new CID. This step ensures the integrity of the data and proper functionality after changing the CID.
- Copy New CID to UFI Box: Once you’ve generated the new CID, copy it to your UFI Box, a commonly used tool for working with eMMC chips.
- Patch CID Using Easy JTAG Plus: Use Easy JTAG Plus software to patch the new CID to the eMMC firmware. This involves writing the new CID and ensuring firmware compatibility.
- Use Medusa for CID Patching: Alternatively, use the Medusa PRO software for patching the CID. Ensure you’ve prepared the new CID using another tool before writing it with Medusa.
- Final Step: Write the New CID: With Medusa PRO, write the new CID into the eMMC to complete the process. This final step ensures the device has been properly updated with the new identification data.
